A set of three original engraved naval harbour plans depicting key Mediterranean ports: Genoa (Italy), Civitavecchia (Italy), and Spalato / Split (Dalmatia).

These finely detailed maps are characteristic examples of 18th-century French naval cartography, likely originating from a maritime atlas or hydrographic survey of the period.

Each plate features:

  • precise harbour layouts with fortifications and coastal defenses
  • bathymetric soundings (depth measurements in pieds / brasses)
  • navigational lines and harbour approaches
  • military engineering details reflecting the influence of the Vauban school

The presence of plate numbers (Pl. 22, 26, 86) strongly suggests that all three maps belong to the same atlas or publication.

The sheet features a finely printed portrait of a French officer of the Chasseurs, accompanied by a printed narrative praising the endurance and discipline of the 1er Bataillon de Chasseurs, describing a forced march of 112 kilometers completed in 39 hours.

Such printed testimonial sheets were created to record and celebrate notable military achievements and were often preserved in private or institutional collections.

The sheet bears a circular ownership stamp from the “Aristophonos Library”, indicating provenance from a private historical collection.

Two original small paper Cold War-era informational posters of the 6th Allied Tactical Air Force (6th ATAF), the NATO tactical air command responsible for the air defense coordination of Greece and Turkey in Southeast Europe. Established in Izmir, Turkey in the early 1950s after Greek and Turkish accession to NATO (1952), the 6th ATAF played a major role in the strategic defense structure of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The first poster illustrates the NATO Air Force network in Southeast Europe, showing command sectors and air bases including LarisaEskisehirAnkara, and Diyarbakir.
The second features the official 6th ATAF insignia with jet aircraft in formation and NATO identification.

Set of two original antique photographic prints on paper, dating to the late 19th – early 20th century (circa 1890–1905).

Both photographs depict the same academic plaster sculpture of a nude male athlete holding a discus, shown from two different views. These images were produced for artistic and anatomical study and were actively used in fine art academies, which explains the heavy wear visible today.

The photographs show significant age-related wear, including creases, edge losses, surface abrasions and toning, all consistent with period use and age. Despite their condition, they remain authentic period photographs, not reproductions.

Complete antiquarian volume devoted to Ancient Greece, containing 113 single-leaf engraved plates and 2 large folding maps of Greece by T. Duvotenay.

The engravings illustrate a wide range of subjects related to classical antiquity, including ancient temples, architectural details, archaeological sites, monuments, landscapes, mythological and historical figures, as well as views of significant locations in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean.

The plates were executed by prominent Italian engravers of the late 18th – early 19th century, among them Salimbeni, Butasson, Lazzari, Tiozzo, Podestà, Bosa, Simonetti, Zuliani, Dal Pozzo, and Musitelli.
The maps and plates are finely engraved and reflect the scholarly and artistic interest in classical antiquity characteristic of the period.

Condition:
The volume is complete with all plates and both folding maps present. The engravings are generally clean, with light age toning and minor spotting consistent with age. The original binding is worn, with wear to spine and covers and some separation; the book would benefit from professional rebinding. Sold as is, complete.
