Original large-format Greek Freemasonry diploma issued in Athens in May 1950 under the authority of the:
Grand Lodge of Greece
for the historic:
Masonic Lodge Melis
(“Melis” Lodge No. 76).
The certificate confirms the admission/initiation of a member into the lodge and bears original handwritten signatures of lodge officials, including the Worshipful Master and Secretary.
The diploma features:
- elaborate Greek Masonic typography,
- traditional Freemasonry abbreviations and symbols,
- official decorative layout,
- and period handwritten signatures.
Particularly interesting historically, the Melis Lodge was originally founded in Smyrna in 1867 under the auspices of the Grand Orient of France before relocating to Athens after the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922.
Greek Freemasonry itself has a long and important historical tradition dating back to the early 19th century.

Condition:
Fair vintage condition with heavy age wear, folds, tears, edge losses, creasing and staining consistent with age and storage. Despite condition issues, the document remains displayable and historically attractive.
